Introduction

MIMAROPA, or Region IV-B, located in the Luzon island group right at the heart of the archipelago, is one of the Philippines’ numerous treasures, showcasing its beauty, resources, and heritage.

This region is popularly referred to as the “Treasure Trove of Southern Luzon.” The region’s name is an acronym for its constituent provinces: Mindoro (Occidental and Oriental Mindoro), Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan.The region is composed of two cities: Calapan City in Oriental Mindoro and Puerto Princesa City in Palawan. Immaculate Conception Cathedral Parish (Puerto Princesa, Palawan) is a Roman Catholic cathedral in the city. It is in the Neo-Gothic architectural tradition and is the mother church of the Apostolic Vicariate of Puerto Princesa, which covers the municipalities of Palawan west of Puerto Princesa City. The present cathedral was constructed in 1961 and has since grown to be a significant site of worship for the Catholic population in Palawan. The old church was founded in 1872 but suffered greatly during World War II.
